MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaazing Corporation, makers of gateways that connect web-based applications to high-volume, real-time message traffic, today announced support for the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) in the most recent release of the company's flagship product, Kaazing Enterprise Gateway (KEG).
AMQP is an open Internet Protocol for a messaging infrastructure that provides a simple, powerful way to send messages within and between organizations. AMQP is designed to be reliable and to scale to high message volumes, and because the specifications published by the AMQP working group (at www.amqp.org) are royalty-free, it has enjoyed considerable support from both vendors and financial services institutions.
A number of prominent organizations contribute to AMQP, including Barclays Bank, Cisco Systems, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Borse Systems, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase Bank & Co. and Microsoft Corporation. The protocol is well suited to a wide range of business and infrastructure messaging applications--but when web-based clients try to access enterprise-based Message Delivery Networks, they often stumble.
Kaazing's addition of AMQP to the suite of protocols supported by KEG gives developers a new option. By connecting Rich Internet Applications directly to an AMQP message feed, companies can build fast, real-time Web applications without the usual headaches or high costs.
"We're excited that Kaazing is extending its support to include AMQP. As the most widely adopted AMQP product, customers often ask us when RabbitMQ will interoperate with Kaazing's fast web push technology," said Alexis Richardson, CEO of Rabbit technologies and co-founder of CohesiveFT. "As a 100% open standard for messaging, AMQP is all about driving integration costs down to zero. We are delighted that RabbitMQ can integrate--at web scale--with all of the platforms that Kaazing supports. It's a great win for our customers."
Along with AMQP, KEG supports a variety of other protocols such as JMS, STOMP, XMPP, and custom protocols. The new functionality means that web applications written in JavaScript, Adobe Flex/Flash, and Microsoft Silverlight can all now communicate directly with AMQP-based message networks.
"We're excited about AMQP and what it means for the industry," said Jonas Jacobi, CEO of Kaazing. "It's an example of an open, industry-led protocol with a wide range of uses, and it provides the kind of reliable, two-way communications fabric on which tomorrow's real-time Web will run."
